The problem here is that a cornerstone node (rule_close) is hit, and views 2 and 3 immediately switch to the view where this cornerstone node is the root.

The user should be warned before this happens, such as not to suddenly lose track of the context in which the cornerstone node appears, e.g. by first seeing the cornerstone node in context as if it wasn't a cornerstone node when it is first called. Only in the next step or by clicking on the cornerstone node should the view switch to the new tree fragment.

A simple, slightly hacky solution is probably possible here, as this is only relevant during live tracing (more precisely, while creeping).

Cornerstone nodes could also be visually distinct from other nodes (stronger border?) to alert the user.
